Car Key Programming you can count on
Since the mid-1990s, most vehicles use an immobilizer system that only lets the engine start with a key or fob it recognizes electronically — a correctly cut blade alone won't start the car. Programming pairs a new key or fob to that system. We carry professional programming equipment covering most domestic, Japanese, and many European vehicles, and we always confirm compatibility by year, make, and model before dispatching, so you're not paying for a trip we can't complete.
Adding a key when you still have one working
The fastest and cheapest scenario — most vehicles let us program an additional key using the existing working key to authorize it through the OBD port, without contacting the dealer.
All keys lost
When every key is gone, we identify the vehicle's security system from the VIN, cut a new blade from scratch, and program it directly — a more involved process than adding a key, but still usually doable on-site rather than requiring a tow.
Proximity fobs & push-button start
Push-to-start systems use proximity fobs that communicate wirelessly with the car rather than a physical ignition cylinder. We program replacement fobs for most systems and can also supply a mechanical backup key blade where the vehicle has one hidden in the fob.
When a dealer visit is genuinely required
Some late-model luxury vehicles and a handful of makes tie key programming to a security module that only accepts a dealer-level connection. We'll tell you upfront if your vehicle falls into that category instead of taking the job and finding out on-site.

What information do you need to program a car key?+
The vehicle's year, make, model, and VIN — the VIN is visible through the windshield on the driver's side dash, or on your registration and insurance card. With that, we can confirm whether we cover your vehicle's programming system before we drive out, and identify exactly which key or fob part you need so we're not guessing on-site.
How is this different from just cutting a key blank?+
Cutting is only the physical shape that turns the lock or opens the door. Programming is the separate step that tells your car's immobilizer computer to recognize that specific key's embedded chip. A key can be cut perfectly and still not start the car if it isn't programmed — this is the most common reason a cheap online key blank doesn't work even though it looks correct.
Do you offer all-keys-lost service, and how long does it take?+
Yes. All-keys-lost takes longer than adding a key since there's no existing key to authorize through — we decode the vehicle's system from the VIN, cut a new blade, and program it directly to the immobilizer. Most vehicles are still completed on-site in one visit. A small number of makes require a security wait period built into the vehicle's own system regardless of who's doing the programming — we'll tell you upfront if your vehicle has that built-in delay.
