Master Key System Design & Installation — Ocala & Central Florida
A properly designed master key system gives every employee or tenant exactly the access they need — no more, no less — with one key at the top that opens everything.
What we offer
Master Key Systems you can count on
A master key system is a hierarchy, not just a set of keys that happen to work in multiple doors. At the bottom, each lock has its own change key that opens only that door. Above that, sub-master keys open a defined group of doors — one floor, one department, one building in a multi-building property. At the top, a single grand master key opens everything. Designing this correctly up front is what makes the system easy to manage for years — adding a new tenant or employee later shouldn't mean rethinking the whole layout.
System design by hierarchy
We map your property's doors, decide how access should be grouped — by unit, floor, department, or role — and design the keying chart before cutting a single key, so the system supports how the property is actually used.
Restricted keyways
Standard keys can be duplicated at any hardware store. Restricted keyway systems use a patented key profile that only we can cut, so key control stays with the property owner, not whoever finds a hardware store willing to copy it.
Adding or removing doors later
Properties grow. We design systems with room to add doors or units to the existing hierarchy without rekeying everything that's already in place — a new building phase or a new tenant space slots into the existing chart.
Rekeying a single zone after a key is lost
If a sub-master or change key is lost, only that specific zone needs to be rekeyed — the rest of the property's keys keep working exactly as they did. This is one of the biggest practical advantages over a property where everything shares one keyway.

Frequently asked questions
How many doors do I need before a master key system makes sense?+
There's no hard minimum, but master key systems earn their cost fastest on properties with more than about 6 to 8 doors and more than one person needing different levels of access — a small office with an owner, a manager, and staff; an apartment building with a superintendent and unit-level access; an HOA with common areas and individual units. Below that, standard keying with a couple of duplicate sets is often simpler and cheaper. We'll give you an honest read on whether your property is a good fit before recommending a full system.
What's a restricted keyway and do I actually need one?+
A restricted keyway uses a key blank profile that's patented and controlled — hardware stores and other locksmiths can't cut blanks for it, only the locksmith of record (or the manufacturer) can, and usually only for people the property owner has authorized. This matters most for properties with turnover — rental units, offices with departing employees, buildings where you can't be certain every issued key has been returned. If your property has low turnover and a small, trusted group of key holders, a standard keyway with good record-keeping may be sufficient. We'll walk through the tradeoff with you.
Can you convert my property's existing standard keys into a master key system?+
Yes. Converting an existing property usually means rekeying the cylinders to a new keying chart rather than replacing all the hardware, which keeps the cost close to a standard rekeying job per door plus the design work. We'll survey your current locks first — most standard residential and commercial cylinders can be rekeyed into a master system; a few older or heavily worn cylinders may need replacement instead, which we'll flag during the survey rather than after the work starts.
