Vacuum the bottom track
Every few weeks, and more often in spring when pine and oak pollen pile up. Sand and grit are what wear rollers out.
Use a dry lubricant, not oil
A silicone or PTFE spray on the track and rollers. Oil and grease hold onto sand and pollen and make things worse.
Don't ignore grinding
A grinding or scraping sound means the rollers are dragging. Catching it early can save the track from wearing a groove.
Add a second lock
A foot lock or bolt lock gives the door a second point of engagement that doesn't depend on the factory latch.

My house is nearly new and the patio door already sticks. Is that normal?+
It's common, and it usually isn't a worn part. Sliding door rollers have adjustment screws that set how high the panel rides in the frame, and if those weren't set correctly at installation the door will bind at one end, drag on one side, or sit low enough that the latch doesn't quite meet its keeper. On a house only a few years old that's the first thing to check, because it's an adjustment rather than a replacement — a fraction of the cost of new rollers. We look at panel height and latch alignment before quoting parts on any newer Wildwood home.
Are impact-rated doors harder to repair?+
They're heavier to handle, which is the main practical difference. Laminated impact glass adds substantial weight, so removing the panel from the frame takes two people and a careful lift rather than one person tipping it out. The parts are comparable to a standard door; the handling isn't, and that's what makes an impact-rated repair more involved. It's also the main reason DIY roller replacement goes wrong on these doors — a dropped or racked panel turns a parts-level repair into a glass replacement, which is not work we take on.
