Lock Repair you can count on
Not every lock problem is a rekey or replacement job. A deadbolt that's hard to turn, a door that won't latch cleanly, or a lock that occasionally sticks is often a mechanical issue with a specific fix — a misaligned strike plate, a worn spring, a cylinder that's collecting debris, or a door that's settled slightly on its hinges. We diagnose the actual cause first and recommend repair when repair is the right call, rather than defaulting to a full replacement because it's a bigger sale.
Sticking or hard-to-turn locks
Often caused by dirt and old lubricant buildup inside the cylinder, or by a door that's shifted slightly so the bolt binds against the frame. We clean, lubricate, and adjust before assuming the lock itself has failed.
Misaligned strike plates
If a deadbolt doesn't line up cleanly with its strike plate — common after a house settles or a door is re-hung — the bolt has to be forced, which wears the lock faster and can eventually cause it to fail to latch at all. Adjusting or repositioning the strike plate is usually a quick fix.
Worn springs & internal components
Handle sets and lever locks rely on internal springs that wear out over years of use, causing a handle to feel loose or not return properly. We carry common replacement internals for major brands and repair rather than replace the whole unit where possible.
When repair isn't the right call
Some locks — especially older, low-grade, or physically damaged hardware — cost more to keep repairing than to replace outright, or present a real security gap even once functional again. We'll tell you honestly when replacement is the better value instead of patching something not worth patching.

My deadbolt is hard to turn — does it need to be replaced?+
Usually not. A hard-to-turn deadbolt is most often caused by a misaligned strike plate forcing the bolt to bind, or dirt and dried lubricant inside the cylinder. Both are repairable in a short visit without replacing the lock. We'll test the door alignment and cylinder action first — if the hardware itself turns out to be worn out or damaged internally, we'll tell you that's the case rather than repairing something that will just fail again in a few months.
How do I know if I need a repair or a full lock replacement?+
The general rule: if the lock's core mechanism still functions correctly once cleaned and adjusted, repair is the right call. If the cylinder itself is worn to the point of unreliable operation, if internal components are broken rather than just worn, or if the lock is old, low-security hardware you'd want to upgrade anyway, replacement makes more sense. We diagnose on-site and give you both the repair cost and a replacement quote so you can decide, rather than only presenting the more expensive option.
Can you repair locks from any brand?+
We stock common repair parts for the major residential and commercial brands — Schlage, Kwikset, Yale, Baldwin, Defiant — and can usually source parts for less common brands within a day or two if needed. For very old or discontinued hardware where parts are no longer made, replacement with comparable modern hardware is often the more practical path, and we'll explain why if that's the situation with your specific lock.
