Smart Key & Push-to-Start Key Replacement
Lost your only push-to-start key, need a spare, or getting a 'key not detected' warning? We cut and program proximity keys on-site for most makes and models.
What we offer
Smart Key Replacement you can count on
A push-to-start car doesn't use a key in the usual sense. The fob is a proximity transmitter that the car looks for when you press the start button, and it hides a small mechanical blade for the door in case the battery dies. Replacing one means two jobs: cutting that emergency blade and programming a new transmitter to the car's immobilizer. We do both on-site — in your driveway, at work, or in a parking lot — so the car doesn't need to be towed anywhere.
Spare smart keys
The cheapest time to get a second smart key is while you still have one working key. Adding a key to the car is quicker and simpler than an all-keys-lost job, and it means losing a fob is an inconvenience rather than a crisis.
All keys lost
If you've lost every key, we can still program a new one for most vehicles. We'll need proof of ownership — registration or title with a matching photo ID — and the car's VIN, which lets us identify the correct key and blade before we come out.
'Key not detected' warnings
Usually the fob battery, sometimes a damaged fob, occasionally a fault on the car's side. We test the fob before selling you anything — a fresh battery is the right fix more often than a new key.
Which cars need the dealer
Most push-to-start vehicles can be programmed on-site. A handful of newer models, mostly European, require dealer-only access for key programming. Give us the year, make, model, and VIN when you call and we'll tell you up front which applies to your car.
How we quote
You get the price before we start
What a job costs depends on what actually failed, the hardware it needs, and where you are. Those change the number enough that posting a range here would mislead as often as it helped.
So we look first, tell you exactly what the work involves, and give you the price before anything starts. If it doesn't work for you, you're free to say no.

Frequently asked questions
My car says 'key not detected' — do I need a new key?+
Not usually. The most common cause is a weak fob battery. Most push-to-start cars also let you start with a weak battery by holding the fob right against the start button (or in a marked spot in the console — your owner's manual shows where). If that works, replace the battery. If the car still can't see the fob, it may be damaged — water and drops are the usual culprits — and that's when a replacement makes sense.
How do I get into my car if the smart key battery is dead?+
Most smart keys hide a mechanical key blade inside the fob — look for a small release button or slider. Many cars hide the door keyhole under a cap on the driver's door handle. Once inside, use the fob-to-start-button method above to start the car.
Can a used smart key from online be programmed to my car?+
Sometimes, but often not. Many smart keys lock to the first car they're programmed to and can't be reused, and listings frequently have the wrong frequency or chip for your exact model. We'd rather supply a key we know matches your VIN than spend a visit discovering an online key won't take.
Do I need the original key to get a new smart key?+
No. If you still have a working key, adding a spare is simpler. If you've lost every key, we can usually still program a new one on-site with proof of ownership and the VIN.
